Tutorial #1

Okay, this was my first tutorial ever! Looking back, I would have to say it's not that great. Oh, well. It's a fairly easy one for beginners, though.

Tutorial #1

Moving Icon Tutorial

This is a GIMP tutorial. It probably could be used in other programs such as Photoshop, etc.

A tutorial requested by Narnia Fanatic.

We'll be going from this:  to this:

First, you open a new icon file (100 x 100).

Next you pick the image that you would like to use.

Move the image to show Anna's face. You can change the coloring, etc.

Duplicate the image and move it to another person's face. In this case, I decided to go to Georgie.

Duplicate the image again and move the image again. This time I moved it to Skandar's face.

Duplicate the image one more time and move the image one last time. I moved it to William's face.

Go ahead and delete the Background layer as well or it will be apart of the animation.

Go to filters then animations then optimize (GIF). This helps with the file size. GIMP will open another image with the optimized file. Save the optimized file as a GIF file.

A box will pop up asking you whether you want to merge the files or save it as an animation. Click "Save as animation." On the bottom of the box, it asks you to chose for the image to be indexed or grayscale. Make sure you chose indexed or else all your coloring will be for naught. Then click export.

Another box will pop up. Under Animated GIF Options, there will be several things listed. Make sure that the box next to "Loop forever" is checked. Then for the milliseconds, type in 1000. For frame disposal where unspecified, choose "One frame per layer (replace)." Also check the box next to "Use delay entered above for all frames."

This is how it should turn out.
