don't's: i don't talk about news, politics, and -isms. for me, LJ is a place to get away from all that stuff, especially with COVID-19 and the nastiness that has been going on the last couple of years.

I guess, for me, it helped to discuss what I read with my sisters, especially since we all have different personalities. If you have any questions, feel free to ask? I'm no expert by any means (my degree is in English Education), but I'm always happy to share my love of Jane Austen! ^^
I only recently heard an audiobook of Persuasion, but it was pretty good. I like the ones with British voices. I highly recommend the LibriVox recordings done by Karen Savage or Elizabeth Klett.
As for adaptations, I highly recommend the 2007 ITV adaptation with Sally Hawkins and Rupert Penry-Jones. I think it got the feel of the book better. I can't stand the 1995 version with Amanda Root and Ciarán Hinds because Ciarán Hinds looks too much like a sea captain (Captain Wentworth is not supposed to look like a sea captain) and because of the weird circus scene when Captain Wentworth proposes. A lot of people like it though, but it's definitely not one of my favorites.
